FMD was contracted as a subcontractor to Graham Constructions to complete the following scopes of work as part of the South Bank Quay – 450m quay construction.

Demolition of the following existing structures

Tarmac Jetty

Demolish Tarmac Jetty. Piles to be fully extracted.

Demolish Tarmac Jetty Radial Loading Arm.

Demolish Tarmac Approach Ramp. Piles to be fully extracted.

Demolish Tarmac Mooring Dolphin & Gangway. Piles to be fully extracted.

Access Steps

Oil Dolphin (upstream)

Demolish upstream Oil Dolphin. Piles to be fully extracted.

Demolish Approach Ramp. Piles to be fully extracted.

Oil Dolphin (downstream)

Demolish downstream Oil Dolphin. Piles to be fully extracted.

Demolish Approach Ramp. Piles to be fully extracted.

South Bank Jetty (total 56m long)

Demolish Approach Ramp and first 56m of the jetty with Piles to be fully extracted. Steel H-beam piles encased with reinforced concrete from the seabed level up.

Waterside Contaminated Dredging

Dredging of approximately 75,000m3 of contaminated dredge material with a closed/visor bucket method and discharge to land for transportation to designated lagoon storage.

Landside Deep Excavation

Excavation of approximately 100,000m3 of firm glacial till material to a depth of 6m below the excavator’s level. All material was loaded to dumpers for onward disposal with Teeswork’s lands.
