- Confined dredging areas
- Disposal site on the west coast of Ireland during winter conditions
Rossaveel harbour welcomed the second marine development in recent years and L&M Keating acted as principal contractor for both marina developments.
Foyle & Marine were contracted to dredge and dispose of 45,000M³ of soft material. Due to the location and confined dredge area, we chose to operate a 45T Hitachi 17M outreach excavator equipped with the Prolec Pcx Pro dig system. 1No 335M split hopper barge was sufficient to carry out the disposal operation as the disposal facilities was 4Nm roundtrip from site.
This project was the first outing for Foyle & Marine Dredging’s latest addition, the 25T bollard pull tug M.T Gargal. The vessel proved to be a major factor in the project’s success. Based on the disposal site location the project required an ocean going vessel which also have high level of manoeuvrability within confined operating space.
Overall the dredging element of the project was coordinated and delivered efficiently to the client as per their requirements.
