Nigg South Quay Development, Nigg Scotland
Challenge presented on this project.
- Density & depth of existing material between –10 to -12CD
Mc Laughlin & Harvey required an excavator with long reach capabilities to dredge and side cast hard bolder clay material at a depth of -12CD from the steel sheet wall into the path of a trailer suction dredger.
Foyle & Marine’s EX1200 has an outreach of 30M and a dredge depth of 18M. The client required these dredge capabilities to reduce the marine material around the existing piles to -16.5 to allow divers to cut the piles at -15CD. The excavator also completed a sweep of the dredge area removing any isolated hire areas and ensure the -12CD design level was achieved throughout.
Foyle & Marine’s 45T long reach excavator was also positioned along the new quay wall remove material built up within the steel sheet piles. This material was side casted into the path of a mult-cat plough for removal.
