Ramp 3 Caisson Removal Dublin Port

Description. 

Scope included the demolition and removal of 2 number concrete caissons within Dublin Port. Each caisson was made up of a concrete structure, with 4 reinforced concrete external walls, a top deck, and a base slab. The structure also consisted of internal concrete walls and was filled with a stone/gravel material. All demolition material was loaded onto a hopper barge and recovered to a nearby quay, for onward disposal. 

The caisson was broken down utilising a range of excavator attachments, namely rock hammer/shears/concrete pulverizer and buckets. The main plant and equipment on the project were:

  • Tara Marie Dredger with EX1200 triple boom Grizzly on board
  • Chloe May Tugboat 
  • 335m3 hopper barge 
  • ZX300-7 SLF excavator
